Long-duration electricity storage, built on the same thermal core.
The EarthEn sCO2 battery pairs our packed-bed thermal core with a supercritical CO2 pumped heat cycle to deliver dispatchable electricity over 8+ hours durations – without lithium, cobalt, or any other critical mineral.

How it works.
The sCO₂ Battery uses the same EarthEn packed-bed thermal core as the Heat Battery — proven, durable,
no exotic materials. We add a supercritical CO₂ pumped heat cycle on the output side to convert stored heat into dispatchable electricity.
sCO₂ cycles are highly efficient at the temperatures our thermal core operates at (200–600°C), more compact than steam turbines, and faster to ramp than conventional generation.
sCO2 Battery.
CHARGE
The thermal core charges from renewable electricity (solar, wind, off-peak grid) or curtailed power. Charging is fast — hours, not days — and the system accepts variable input power without performance loss.
STORE
Energy is held in the same particle packed bed as the Heat Battery. Thermal losses are minimal. The system can hold a full charge for 8–24 hours depending on configuration, enabling true long-duration storage.
GENERATE
Supercritical CO₂ flows through the storage bed, exits at high temperature and pressure, and drives a compact turbine to generate electricity. Round-trip electrical efficiency targets 40%+, comparable to pumped hydro without the geography constraint.
Long-duration storage. No caveats.
Lithium batteries degrade over hundreds of cycles. Pumped hydro requires specific geography. Hydrogen has round-trip efficiency under 30%. The EarthEn sCO₂ Battery avoids all three constraints.

Co-founder Dr. Manas Pathak, CEO received a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Lab-Embedded Entrepreneurship Program (LEEP) fellowship to advance and commercialize EarthEn's sCO₂ Battery technology. The technology is being validated in collaboration with Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Co-founder Dr. Palash Panja, EarthEn's CTO, has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications in supercritical CO₂ and thermal energy storage—the scientific foundation on which the sCO₂ Battery is built. This is not a pivot, an analogy, or a speculative bet; it is the commercialization of over a decade of rigorous scientific research and engineering.

The Heat Battery is available today.
The sCO2 Battery follows.
Both products use the same EarthEn packed-bed thermal core. Heat Battery customers are in effect building the operational foundation for sCO₂ Battery deployment — same installation team, same thermal media, same integration philosophy.
