Why We Invested in EarthEn Energy

Momentum Capital’s First Energy Storage Investment

Why We Invested in EarthEn Energy

EarthEn Energy was the first investment by Momentum Capital in the energy storage space. We invested in their pre-seed round in September 2024.

By then, EarthEn had already built strong momentum—winning the 2024 Edison Award for Excellence, securing grants from NSF and DOE, setting up at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and winning a climate tech startup competition at CES 2024.

The company is developing advanced thermo-mechanical energy storage solutions to address the intermittency challenge in renewable energy. Their technology uses supercritical COâ‚‚ in a closed loop, enabling low-cost, scalable energy storage from 4 to 100+ hours.

EarthEn is co-founded by Manas Pathak and Palash Panja, two exceptional chemical engineers with strong complementary expertise across research and industry.

👉 Full story, analysis, and investment thesis are in the first comment below.

We’re also excited to join a climate tech meetup in Mumbai tomorrow evening with Manas and industry leaders to discuss the future of long-duration energy storage (LDES) in India, followed by networking.
