India’s Net-Zero Future & the LDES Challenge 🇮🇳⚡
Mumbai Discussion on Long-Duration Energy Storage

India’s ambition to achieve net-zero will require significantly higher penetration of solar and wind in its energy mix. With this transition comes a critical challenge—grid reliability, since the sun doesn’t always shine and the wind doesn’t always blow.
While many global markets are adopting a portfolio approach to energy storage, including long-duration energy storage (LDES), India currently relies heavily on pumped hydro as its primary LDES solution. Although it is a proven and established technology, it comes with its own limitations and constraints.
This week in Mumbai, founders and VCs in the LDES space will come together to deeply explore India’s energy storage needs and future pathways. I will be sharing EarthEn’s perspective, along with insights from U.S. electricity markets.
